The Great Basin College Spring 2018 Commencement Ceremony will take place on Saturday, May 19, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at the Elko Convention Center located at 700 Moren Way. 

NEW for 2018 - The Pahrump Valley Center will be holding their own Commencement Ceremony on Saturday May 12th at noon at Valley Electric Convention Center located at 800 E. Hwy 372 in Pahrump. 

Caps, gowns, honor cords and Phi Theta Kappa stoles will be available for purchase through the GBC Bookstore approximately May 1st. You may contact the helpful staff at the GBC Bookstore at 775-753-2270 for more information. You may also use the Herff Jones link on the right to order online. Graduates, family, and friends can purchase GBC memorabilia, caps and gowns, tassels, etc. They will have a table at the commencement ceremony with only a small assortment of caps, gowns, and tassels.

Graduation announcements may be ordered through Great Basin College's Media Services Office.  These are personalized announcements and the price is 10 for $10.  Please contact Media Services at 775-753-2103 or stop by Lundberg Hall, Room 103, on the Elko GBC Campus.

All graduates walking in the commencement ceremony must have a cap and gown.

Tickets:  Due to the large number of graduates, each graduate walking at the commencement ceremony will receive 2 tickets for their guests.  Tickets are for guest seating in the theater (graduates do not need a ticket).  Tickets will not be mailed to your home.  Graduates will pick up their name card and tickets from the name table right inside the main doors at the convention center on May 19th.

Children ages 3 and under do not have to have a ticket to sit in the theater if they sit on a guest's lap.

Seating will also be available in a family area that will accommodate up to 500 guests.  No tickets are required for seating in this area.  There will be a live, televised feed from the theater.  The graduate procession will walk through the room just prior to joining the procession in the theater.

Extra Tickets: If there are any extra tickets, We will be accepting requests on May 9th. Graduates must submit an email request only to (admissions@gbcnv.edu). Emails sent prior to May 9 will not be honored. There is a limit of 2 extra tickets per graduate. These will be available on a first come, first served basis.

Graduation Rehearsal, May 18:  There will be a graduation rehearsal on Friday, May 18 at 1pm at the Elko Convention Center located at 700 Moren Way in Elko.  Rehearsal will last approximately 1 hour.  While it is not a requirement to attend rehearsal, attendance is encouraged as it contributes greatly to the success of the commencement ceremony the following day.

Graduation Day, May 19: The doors will open at 8:00 a.m.  Graduates should plan on arriving by 9:00 a.m.  A group photo of the graduates will be taken at 9:45 a.m. in front of the Convention Center. We ask that guests be seated by 9:45 a.m.  After 9:45 a.m., it is possible that empty seats may be filled by other attendees. Commencement will start promptly at 10:00 a.m.

No tripods are allowed, and there is no electricity for cameras.  All cell phones must be turned off.

Special Accommodations:  Please contact the Admissions Office at 775-753-2273 or email deanna.hamilton@gbcnv.edu if you or a guest are in need of special assistance or seating.  We will be happy to help in any way we can.  We ask that you arrive a little earlier so that we can accommodate any guests requiring special assistance before the rush.

Please stay for the reception immediately following the ceremony.  The Student Government Association is sponsoring the reception for you and your guests with cake and refreshments.
