The Great Basin College Spring 2017 Commencement Ceremony will take place on Saturday, May 20, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at the Elko Convention Center located at 700 Moren Way.
Caps, gowns, honor cords and Phi Theta Kappa stoles will be available for purchase through the GBC Bookstore approximately April 15th. You may contact the helpful staff at the GBC Bookstore at 775-753-2270 for more information. You may also use the Herff Jones link on the right to order online.
Graduation announcements may be ordered through Great Basin College's Media Services Office. These are personalized announcements and the price is 10 for $10. Please contact Media Services at 775-753-2103 or stop by Lundberg Hall, Room 103, on the Elko GBC Campus.
All graduates walking in the commencement ceremony must have a cap and gown.
Tickets: Due to the large number of graduates, each graduate walking at the commencement ceremony will receive 2 tickets for their guests. Tickets are for guest seating in the theater (graduates do not need a ticket). Tickets will be available for pickup by participating graduates on commencement day.
Children ages 3 and under do not have to have a ticket to sit in the theater if they sit on a guest's lap.
Seating will also be available in a family area that will accommodate up to 500 guests. No tickets are required for seating in this area. There will be a live, televised feed from the theater. The graduate procession will walk through the room just prior to joining the procession in the theater.
Extra Tickets: If there are any extra tickets, they will be available starting approximately May 8. Graduates must submit an email request only to (email@example.com). Emails sent prior to May 8 will not be honored. There is a limit of 2 extra tickets per graduate. These will be available on a first come, first served basis.
Graduation Rehearsal, May 19: There will be a graduation rehearsal on Friday, May 19 at 1pm at the Elko Convention Center located at 700 Moren Way in Elko. Rehearsal will last approximately 1 hour. While it is not a requirement to attend rehearsal, attendance is encouraged as it contributes greatly to the success of the commencement ceremony the following day.
Graduation Day, May 20: The doors will open at noon. Graduates should plan on arriving by 12:30 p.m. A group photo of the graduates will be taken at 1:30 p.m. in front of the Convention Center. We ask that guests be seated by 1:45 p.m. After 1:45 p.m., it is possible that empty seats may be filled by other attendees. Commencement will start promptly at 2:00 p.m.
No tripods are allowed, and there is no electricity for cameras. All cell phones must be turned off.
Special Accommodations: Please contact the Admissions Office at 775-753-2273 or email firstname.lastname@example.org if you or a guest are in need of special assistance or seating. We will be happy to help in any way we can. We ask that you arrive a little earlier so that we can accommodate any guests requiring special assistance before the rush.
Please stay for the reception immediately following the ceremony. The Student Government Association is sponsoring the reception for you and your guests with cake and refreshments.
DVD Sales: The ceremony will be recorded. Graduates and families may purchase the DVDs in the Convention Center lobby before and after the ceremony. We will also mail out the order form to all graduates walking in the ceremony. The cost for each DVD is $25 and they will be mailed by July 15, 2017 to those purchasing a DVD.
Graduation Photos: Keith Clark Image Artistry will be the photographer taking graduate and group photos. After the commencement ceremony, graduates can order photos at http://keithclarkphoto.com/
