GBC 2013-2014 Graduation

The following are graduation application deadlines:
Summer - July 1
Fall - October 15
Spring -  March 15

Applications for graduation received after the semester in which the degree requirements were met will have a degree confer date of the current semester.

The website to order Graduation apparel is now available.  Students may also order custom graduation announcements on this site. . 

Caps, gowns, and honor cords are also available through the GBC Bookstore.  You may contact the helpful staff at the GBC Bookstore at 775-753-2270 or for more information or to order online visit GBC Bookstore, select Great Basin College and follow the prompts from there.  You may also purchase graduation announcements through the GBC Bookstore.  Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) graduation apparel is now available at the GBC Bookstore.

Graduation announcements are also available to order through Great Basin College's Media Services Office.  These are personalized announcements and the price is 10 for $10.  Please contact Media Services at 775-753-2103 or stop by Lundberg Hall, Room 103, on the Elko GBC Campus.

The Great Basin College Spring 2014 Commencement Ceremony will take place at 10am on Saturday, May 17, at the Elko Convention Center located at 700 Moren Way. 

Tickets:  Due to the large number of graduates, each graduate walking at the Commencement ceremony will receive 2 tickets for their guests.  This is for seating in the theater (graduates do not need a ticket).  Tickets are being mailed to participating graduates starting April 1st. 

Children age 3 and under do not have to have a ticket to sit in the theater if they sit on a guest's lap.

Seating will also be available in a viewing room, which will be set up to accommodate 400 guests.  No tickets are required for seating in this area.  There will be a live, televised feed from the theater to two large screens in this room.  The graduates will walk through the viewing room just prior to joining the procession in the theater.

Extra Tickets: If there are any extra tickets, they will be available at 12:30pm prior to the 1pm Graduation Rehearsal in the Convention Center on Friday, May 16.  There is a limit of 2 tickets per graduate.  These will be available on a first-come, first-served basis.  Rehearsal will last approximately 1 hour.

Graduation Day, May 17: The doors will open at 8:30am. Graduates should plan on arriving by 9am. A group photo of the graduates will be taken at 9:30am in front of the Convention Center. We ask that guests be seated by 9:45am. Commencement will start promptly at 10am.

No tripods are allowed, and there is no electricity for cameras.  All cell phones must be turned off.

Special Accommodations:  Please contact the Admissions Office at 775-753-2273 or email if you or a guest are in need of special assistance or seating.  We will be happy to help in any way we can.  We ask that you arrive a little earlier so that we can accommodate any guests requiring special assistance before the rush.

Please stay for the reception immediately following the ceremony.  The Student Government Association is sponsoring the reception for you and your guests. 

DVD Sales:  The ceremony will be recorded.  Graduates and families may purchase the DVDs in the Convention Center lobby before and after the ceremony.  The cost for each DVD is $20.
